Preparing a scientific paper requires practice and organization. Some suggestions are offered to optimize the process, especially for Ph.D. students and for young scientists collaborating with (one or more) experienced colleagues. After and overview of general considerations, a step-by-step organizational procedure is suggested to streamline the article preparation process.
