Kin Dza Dza! (1986)

Abstract : In this article, we attempt a discussion of the links between politics, religion and science fiction in the Soviet Union of the 1980s. Our particular focus is a film by Georgi Daneliya for which we provide an analysis of the Christian symbols and Biblical elements used. Our intention is to show that transformations of the religious imagery may occur in a specific political climate and that Biblical elements may be used to illustrate certain political ideals.
